Christmas 2014

Despite increasing popularity of high-tech digital games and gadgets, traditional toys still remain a big favourite this Christmas.Old-fashioned toys, board games, sports equipment and brick-building/construction sets will still feature heavily in the wish lists of kids this year, according to Britain’s leading toy retailer Argos.

A survey of 1,000 seven to 11-year-old kids showed that 40 per cent of children will ask for arts and craft sets this Christmas while 40 per cent will want a board game.  36 per cent of the kids surveyed also said they would play with high tech games and traditional games in equally on Christmas Day. This means kids are just as excited by the prospect of opening the new VTech Kiddizoom Smart Watch as the LEGO City Artic Base Camp.

But also, according to the survey, computer games would feature on 69 per cent of kids’ presents’ lists with tablets and computers being asked for by half of all children (50 per cent) so it looks like hi tech gadgets are almost certainly likely to appear at the top of the modern kid’s wish list.
